As distinctive as its drinkers

Many a story and many a song have been shared over a glass of whiskey. Friends come together, a bodhran quickens the pace, lyrics flow, time stands still.

The Pogues Irish Whiskey lets tradition play on. Crafted in small batches, using only barley and spring water from the Emerald Isles, it has a deliciously smooth taste that’s bold and brave. It’s everything you’d expect when a rebellious band joins forces with one of Ireland’s most innovative independent distilleries.

So, raise to the sky. Drink it in.

The Celtic punk band, originally named Pogue Mahone (from the Irish Gaelic ‘póg mo thóin’ meaning ‘kiss my arse’) later became known as The Pogues. Formed in 1982 by frontman Shane MacGowan, the band were famed and admired for doing things their own way.

Their rebellious nature, inspired use of traditional Irish instruments and poetic, often politically tinged lyrics led them to reach cult status in the 80s and early 90s.

The distillery at West Cork is very unique in that most of the mashing, fermentation & distilling equipment was handcrafted on site by the team at WCD. No other distillery work force can be so knowledgeable and intimately married to its equipment. WCD has several notable ways-of-working which all contribute to making the finest quality spirits, but first and foremast WCD is the most southerly located distillery on the Atlantic Archipelago which provides a unique meso-thermal microclimate for which West Cork is famous and which is ideal for the maturation of Irish whiskey.
